MashedIn is a social discovery platform that reveals connections among people, places, and things through social and mobile technologies. By "mashing in" social graphs it can find connections between people even if they don't use the same social network.
MashedIn makes these connections by exploring our social graphs directly (by examining a user's list of contacts in Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, for instance) or indirectly through latent semantic data.
Having trouble? Ideas? We'd love to hear your feedback
In the summer of 2008, VendAsta Technologies raised $3 million to build a social platform to help consumers find and share services they trust.
The best way for people to find reliable services is to tap into the experience of friends, family, and co-workers. The problem is, how can you tell which of your friends have relevant experience? In a social network consisting of hundreds of people, who do you go to for information about furnaces, about fly-fishing, about hotels in Hong Kong?
The project we launched was called MyFrontSteps, and while the name has changed, the core mission hasn't.
Our mission is to help people better navigate their connections to the people, places, and things around them. This could mean finding a plumber that your co-worker recommends, or learning how you're connected to a stranger at a conference, or seeing whether any of your friends are at the pub down the street.
MashedIn helps build trust, awareness, and relevance in today's social world.
